June the thirteenth.
A couple of shots of Townsville from atop Mt Stuart on the way west from Townsville. I decided to head west (not North anymore) as there's much more rain to the south.
Down the road away I came across the Burdekin river not far from Charters Towers (there's no towers there) and these are shots of the rail bridge, it's impressive....
Below are shots of a stick in the ground with all the floods that have been recorded on the Burdekin river.
Just to add perspective, here's my car.
And the road bridge showing the normal height of the river....
These crocodile warning signs are everywhere.....
Some of the scenery along the road.........
One of the many road trains on the roads out here. They are between 50-70 metres long.....
The road........
A very large windmill.....
Hughenden, the vicinity where dinosaur fossils have been found.
A train heading for Townsville carrying a load of whatever is mined in Mt Isa.....
A sign.....
A statue....
A rubbish bin.....
And of course... rain.....
another road train picture....
And then I stayed at Julia Creek tonight as the sun set. Funny thing, I didn't see Julia....or a creek!
