Fourteenth of June.
I leave Julia Creek intending to visit Mt Isa...
 Country side in this area....
 Includes emus.....

This is part of the old highway, no wonder so many car crashes occurred, its nearly 2 metres narrower than the new road with no line markings at all!!
 Another road train.....

The country between cloncurry and Mt Isa is quite spectacular...

A memorial to Burke and Wills, they explored a lot of this country a few years back....

 First view of Mt Isa.....

A viewing area on a hill in Mt Isa has this sign so you can see how far everywhere is...
 Mt Isa...
I visited the "underground hospital" museum here and they have quite a collection of old hospital equipment. I could imagine trying to carry some of this stuff in the ambulance!

The underground Hospital was build during the war when the Japanese attacked Darwin as the authorities were afraid they may attack Mt Isa for the minerals.

From Mt Isa I decided to head home after checking my bank account........
 Big country, big sky....
Can't be in the outback without taking a picture of a termites nest....

 A tree....

 The road.
 Sunset time....

 I stayed at Winton tonight...............
