9 June....
So I wandered reasonably aimlessly about Townsville this morning looking at the town of ville.
Below is a picture of the city centre, followed by a series of panoramic shots from the top of Castle rock showing the whole city.

After checking most corners of Townsville I continued North. I wandered up a windy road and found this old stone bridge built in the thirties by prisoners doing community service....hmmmmm there's an idea!
Anyway, it was on Chrystal creek, of which there is a small and a large and as the name suggests the water was clear as Chrystal!

The view of the coast from Paluma range between Townsville and Ingham.

Here's a kookaburra sitting on a sign.

Also in Paluma National park I went and looked at Jourama Falls. The following shots are the road in, some of the creek, and the falls....

While in the National Park I had to do what most humans do occasionally and stopped at one of the toilets. While there I realised that it doesn't matter weather it's a council toilet, a park or a shopping centre, one thing is a constant.....  Where ever you park your car, the male toilet is ALWAYS the furthest one from the car!!!!
Next came Ingham, as you can see my holiday rain making is working incredibly well!! lucky I remembered the umbrella.

The view from a roadside lookout of Hinchinbrook Island, very big and very close to the mainland.

A sign at Cardwell beach......

Cardwell Beach.

The big gumboot at Tully and the associated sign....Imagine 7.9 Metres of rain in one year!!
Also there seem to be a HUGE number of Lilly Creeks every where up this end of the world, either it's a very long creek or a popular name for a creek, kind of like back creek in the majority of the country.

I took another detour to check out Mission beach. A nice spot, I didn't see any cassowaries though.

Mission Beach......

This is Magnetic Island, but it isn't. I put some iron on the beach and it didn't move!

I found the line where the sugar cane stops and the bananas begin!!!!

A big hill that appeared from the clouds for a short time, somewhere up near Cairns. Also there are 2 hills here which the signs stated as being the highest in Queensland, however I couldn't see them so it must be untrue!
It was sundownish by the time I arrived in Cairns so haven't had a look around yet, I shall do so tomorrow......
